Nurse Practitioner Pediatric Cardiac ICU 12-hour Flex Shifts The Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Advanced Practice Nurse provides comprehensive care to patients with congenital or critical heart disease located in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU). The patient population includes both preoperative and postoperative surgical patients, medical patients and patients who have undergone interventional cardiac catheterization. The APN works within the collaborative framework of Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Medicine, Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery, Pediatric Cardiology, and Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia to assure family centered care is achieved for these patients and their families throughout hospitalization with optimal patient outcomes. Excellence in patient care will also be achieved by participating in research, teaching and by providing leadership to the organization. Requirements include a Masters Degree in Nursing, NY State Nurse Practitioner certification with prescriptive privileges plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant Nurse Practitioner experience. A new graduate NP with at least 3 years of cardiac-focused PICU experience will be entertained. Excellent communication skills are essential.
